DANA FORRESTER

 

Dana Forrester

 

Dana Forrester has played bass guitar in some of Detroit’s most notorious rock bands since she was 15. She gravitated to the business side of music in the late 90s. In 2008, she partnered with Kathy Vargo to form On the Rocks Detroit, a full service PR and events company, representing the top echelon of Detroit recording artists, venues and brands.

In 2005, Ms. Forrester was co-founder and co-director of the Motor City Music Conference (MC2), a large-scale event that garnered national media attention, and thousands of attendees. MC2 also included Grammy Award winners Don Was, Moby and Steve King (Eminem’s Producer). In addition , MC2 has hosted and promoted successful high profile music showcases and events at SXSW (Austin), The Viper Room (Hollywood), The Roxy (Hollywood), The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland), Arlene’s Grocery and Don Hills (New York City), and of course all over Metro Detroit and Los Angeles.

Based in Metro Detroit, Ms. Forrester’s thriving PR business also focuses on music licensing, successfully landing music placements in numerous TV shows – most notably “CSI,” (CBS) and “Knight Rider” (NBC), in addition to the TV film trailer for the 2009 blockbuster “Sherlock Holmes.” She also is a voting member of the Recording Academy (Grammys).

As sole owner of the “world famous” Lucky Monkey Tattoo Parlor in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Ms. Forrester is passionate about both art and music, and is grateful for the opportunity to make creativity her business.

 

 


 

 

 

 

Detroit Young Professionals (DYP) is bringing together movers and shakers from across Southeast Michigan to honor 10 remarkable innovators and changemakers at our 2nd Annual Vanguard Awards. This event was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding Detroiters who have distinguished themselves through professional leadership and service to our community.

Rhonda Walker, the 2nd Annual Vanguard Awards will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Amnesia, perched high above downtown Detroit on the 16th floor of MotorCity Casino Hotel. Attendees will enjoy a special networking reception, awards presentation and after party with a complimentary hors d'oeuvres and music by DJ SloPoke.
