William Malcolm is the founder and lead creative designer for William Malcolm Luxe Collection, a classic menswear fashion label. Mr. Malcolm became interested in fashion and art at an early age. He was the recipient of a prestigious art design scholarship, has been sketching and designing men’s clothing for years. His designs are inspired by the classic men’s styling and intelligent tailoring of the early 1930’s through the mid 20th century. Mr. Malcolm considers his garments to be works of art.
 

Mr. Malcolm is the founder and director of The Suit Project which is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that mentors life skills, community service commitment, interview preparation, educational advancement and personal brand development to young men. He also launched the William Malcolm Man of Style & Substance Contest which highlights Michigan men for their community and philanthropic endeavors. The contest successfully partnered with over sixty local and national community service and nonprofit organizations He is also member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science/Sociology from Western Michigan University.

Mr. Malcolm and his menswear designs have been featured in several national and international publications including Uptown Magazine, Ambassador Magazine, LA Fashion Week, Detroit Fashion Pages, Detroit News, Detroit Free Press, and B.L.A.C. Magazine. His designs anchored the 2009 Detroit Fashion Week. He was one of three finalists selected to compete in the design competition of the 2009 Fashion In Detroit runway show. In the fall of 2009, Mr. Malcolm was comprehensively highlighted on CNN Money for his nonprofit work and excellence in sartorial men’s fashion. His passion lies in developing the excellence within the young men that he continues to mentor daily.

Detroit Young Professionals (DYP) is bringing together movers and shakers from across Southeast Michigan to honor 10 remarkable innovators and changemakers at our 2nd Annual Vanguard Awards. This event was established to recognize and celebrate outstanding Detroiters who have distinguished themselves through professional leadership and service to our community.

Hosted by Local 4 News Anchor Rhonda Walker, the 2nd Annual Vanguard Awards will take place on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at Amnesia, perched high above downtown Detroit on the 16th floor of MotorCity Casino Hotel. Attendees will enjoy a special networking reception, awards presentation and after party with a complimentary hors d'oeuvres and music by DJ SloPoke.
