JASON MALONE
Jason Malone is Communications Coordinator in Public Affairs and Community Relations at Charter One Bank in Michigan. In this capacity, Malone assists in the execution of Charter One's signature community programs and initiatives, oversees coordination of colleague volunteer opportunities, and manages the data analysis for the bank's adherence to CRA goals and compliance. Malone joined Charter One Bank in January 2008 from Quicken Loans where he was a mortgage banker.
Since 2001, more than 300 young people ages 17 to 22 have completed Midnight Golf with the majority of participants enrolled in colleges and universities throughout the country. Today, the program has grown to include 125 participants per year. During the nine-month program, participants meet with mentors and PGA Professionals for bi-weekly sessions that include a life skills segment, group dinner and golf lessons.
Midnight Golf provides training that produces positive peer relationships, improved social and decision-making skills, increased self-sufficiency and expanded life choices including a focus on college or vocational training. Taught by PGA Professionals, golf is incorporated into the program to teach the importance of following rules, appropriate dress, courtesy and respect for self and others. Malone's involvement in Midnight Golf has come full circle as he now serves as a full-time mentor.
